IMMA’s current exhibition, “What We Call Love” has garnered resounding praise amongst critics and culture enthusiasts. An anthology and anthropologic study of love and its effects on the human condition contextualised by the Surrealist movement to contemporary expressions and embodiments. To further bring the principals and aesthetics of Surrealism as presented in the paintings, photography, installations and sculptures there will be a nocturnal event, an evening of performance, “Hot on the Heels of Love”. The performance has been curated by Pádraic E. Moore and will include performances by Girls Names, Sophie Merry, Dorje de Burgh and Wounded Healer, to name but a few. “Hot on the Heels of Love” is an exploration into the emancipation of repressed desire, fundamental to the Surrealist movement of the 1920s. The evening will unfold with a collage of spoken word, screenings, performance and live music which will, undoubtedly breathe a freshness of life into the artworks that you may have already experienced if you have visited the already engaging and affecting exhibition, “What We Call Love.” / Zara Hedderman
