Interview with the cover designer
Annie Atkins (Part 2)
Annie Atkins concludes her cover duties with le cool...
*Tell us about this cover?*
This is a portrait of my friend
Rosie, who once told me she was camera-shy and didn't have any nice pictures of herself. I said we could go for a stroll around a park and take a couple of natural shots if she'd like. The project escalated out of control, though, because the next thing we knew she was naked, getting all le cool in a bathtub full of milk.
*What are you working on at the moment?*
I'm working on a TV show called 'Camelot', with Joseph Fiennes and Eva Green. Although, when I say "with Joseph Fiennes and Eva Green", I don't mean I actually work with them, per se. They tend not to hang out in the graphics department much.
*Dream Commission?*
I'd like to style Dublin. We need more trees and water features, and I'd like all buses, taxis, and Dublin bikes to be a deep rusty orange colour. What? There's no money for painting taxis? Oh.
*How would you describe your style?*
Hmm. Well, I worked in a design agency once where they called me "Annie All-Caps Helvetica Atkins" when they thought I wasn't listening.
