Interview with the cover designer
Yvette and Sean - studioseventyseven
*Who are you and what do you do?*
We are two photographers working under the name
studioseventyseven based at South Studios. Yvette is from Sligo and Sean is from near Liverpool. You could say that both Westlife and The Beatles influence us in equal parts. How do you do tongue-in-cheek in this thing?!
*Tell us more about the cover?*
We are both really inspired by the Swedish filmmaker,
Roy Anderson, who uses his films to explore the grandeur of existence. We wanted to create a series of individual surreal moments that would have a magical element to them.
The stylist
Angela Scanlon, a pal, left her bike in the studio for ages so we decided to take it for an outing to Sandymount strand. During the shoot a woman approached us and said that we had made her day.
*How do you create your stuff?*
We both keep visual diaries that we constantly refer to. Films, books, and magazines all influence us, anything with a visual or creative element really. We live and work together so usually the best ideas come up while in the bath or chopping onions.
