Oneohtrix Point Never
Dan Lopatin may operate under the unwieldy moniker Oneohtrix Point Never, but his synth compositions have tangible elegance. Ostensibly a drone artist who walks a liminal line between cosmic, arpeggiated washes and free-form digi-psych, OPN is a project that illuminates previously unlit sonic corners. It is a marriage of blissful, evocative keyboard textures and technicolour wig-outs as evinced on his lauded Returnal album from 2010 and his compilation Rifts from the year before, both of which possess a wellspring of musical expression. Tonight Lopatin jams live and we also have the bonus of a DJ set from Games, his side project with buddy Joel Ford. The duo will drop their much anticipated début album of shimmering, cut-glass synthpop in June as Ford and Lopatin, and their lo-nrg mixes of downtempo slowjamz have a totally beguiling charm.
