RIDDIM Festival launch
It’s all in the name really. The RIDDIM (Roots Incorporating Drums Dance Imagination & Music) festival is launching this week with four rooms of visual and musical expression taking over the Twisted Pepper, stuffing a little corner of Dublin with Rastafarian variations and rootical vibrations. With Reggae, Skank, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, and Soul all making an appearance and the promise of more gigs to come with an open-air festival next year to round it off, RIDDIM looks the place to keep those heads ringin’ for 2011. Headlining on the main stage is The Beat from the UK, with Dub Investigation in the Cafe and Firehouse Skank meets Rootical Soundsystem in the Mezz, all while down in the Basement the best of Bodytonicmusic will be pumping out tunes. A rose by any other name may smell as sweet, but a gig by any other name could never rock this hard. / Hugh Torpey
